Tansley Electrical - a new approach for a new era.
The electrical industry has changed hugely since Ron Tansley set up Tansley Electrical in 1958.
Back then, it wasn't unusual to see an electrician cycling down the road, with a ladder over one shoulder and a bag bulging with tools perched precariously on the parcel tray. The rules regarding who could undertake electrical work were more relaxed back then and many a husband tried his hand at fixing electrical problems. Sometimes with spectacular results!
In the early days when you called Tansley Electrical for help, Ron Tansley himself likely arrived on your doorstep. Today, the electrical industry is very different. Pens have given way to computers, bicycles to GPS-equipped vans, and test equipment now includes the latest in thermal and analysing technology.
At Tansley Electrical, one electrician has turned into a team of 80 people covering the Otago, Central Otago, Southland and Canterbury areas, working out of Dunedin, Queenstown, Invercargill and Christchurch.
Two things haven't changed, however. The company remains locally owned and it is still the preferred electrical services supplier for many of the Southern Regions most successful companies. That's because with many highly skilled and long-serving staff members it has huge combined experience to draw on.
